[poedit-users] a format specification for argument 1 doesn't exist in 'msgstr'

Hi,

This is my first post on this ML. I just looked for the answer in the ML
archives I didn't find it.

I got this error "a format specification for argument 1 doesn't exist in
'msgstr'" while saving a .po file with PoEdit.

I understood that the error is connected with nested double quotes in my
msgstr (see below).

Someone could help me ?

I understood that the error is connected with nested double quotes

It's not. The error is because you translated the texts so badly they
could never work in the software you're translating. Your translation
doesn't contain any of the format specifications the original string
does ("%1" etc.), so the fix is quite simple: just translate the
string correctly, without omitting crucial parts from the
translation, and it will work.

For example, "Subscription of the address \"%1$s\" to the mailing list
\"%2$s\" was successful.
You will receive a request for confirmation."

Ok, so nice !!! I didn't know that msgfmt was able to detect this kind
of translation errors !
